Some persons standing trial at Circuit and District Courts in the Ashanti Region and their relatives say they are frustrated about the continuous adjournment of their cases, due to the absence of Magistrates to preside over court proceedings.
Due to the situation, accused persons have been forced to overstay their period of remand but cannot either be granted bail or have their remand warrant renewed.
An uncle of an accused person standing trial over a defilement case at the Mamponteng District Court, Paul Twum who spoke to our correspondent expressed disappointment about the situation.
He said his sister who was remanded for one week for allegedly habouring his son in relation to a defilement case cannot apply for bail after the expiration of her remand warrant due to the absence of a Judge.
Mr. Twum appealed to the Chief Justice to as a matter of urgency appoint a relieving judge to facilitate justice delivery.
Meanwhile, a source at the Ashanti Regional office of the Judicial Service said District Magistrates who have been promoted to preside over Circuit Courts are currently attending a workshop in Accra.
