The Director-General of Police CID, COP Maame Tiwa Addo Danquah, has challenged officers of the Domestic Violence and Victims Support Unit, DOVVSU to organise themselves more professionally, as the Unit marks its 20 years milestone.

Speaking at the launch of the anniversary she said in as much as the Unit has achieved some successes in the past 20 years, officers must work harder than they have done in the past two decades because sexual violence is still on the increase.

Minister for the Interior Ambrose Dery, said after 20 years of DOVVSU’s existence there must be zero tolerance for violence against women and children.

In a speech read on behalf of the Minister, Chief Director at the Ministry, Addaide Annor Kumi, said violation against women and children still remains a priority to the Ministry calling on Ghanaians to advocate zero tolerance for violence of all forms.

The Director-General, Legal, COP Prosper Agblor said the 20 years of DOVVSU should be a stock taking period for the Unit considering its checkered history.

He said the Police Administration is considering a proposal to make DOVVSU an independent Unit.
