Closure of illegal TV Stations will not affect Ghana’s ranking on World Press Freedom Index- GJA

President of the GJA Roland Affail Monney says the routine closure of media houses which operate without license does not impact Ghana’s ranking on the World Press Freedom Index.

Ghana maintained her 30th position in the latest World Press Freedom Index out of 180 countries, at a time 49 television stations have been shut down for operating illegally.

Mr Monney said although the Constitution guarantees freedom of the media, it behoves Media Houses to be responsible and obedient to the laws
