The coalition of NGOs on Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS) has called on government to prioritise and invest in sanitation issues.
Speaking at a Press Conference in Accra, the Vice Chairman of Sanitation, Attah Arhin said the situation is a national disaster which government must pay attention to.
“Poor sanitation, water quality and inappropriate hygiene practices are a major cause of mortality among children,” he said.
The coalition stressed the need for Ghanaians to be concerned with the state of sanitation and water in schools where children of school going age spend a greater part of their day.
