Information emanating from the seat of government indicates that the five-member committee chaired by Supreme Court Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang to probe three petitions filed against the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo will commence hearings today, Thursday, 15th May, 2025
The Committee President John Dramani Mahama established, was constituted in accordance with Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution.
The embattled Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, who is currently on suspension, is been investigated following five separate petitions filed against her for alleged misconduct.
President Mahama, after receiving the petitions and subsequently seeking advice from the Council of State, as stated in the 1992 Republican Constitution, suspended Justice Torkornoo and set up a five-member panel to conduct a detailed inquiry into the allegations.
The establishment of the five-member panel followed a determination of a prima facie case against the Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo, and was undertaken in consultation with the Council of State.
The committee is expected to convene three times a week and, upon the completion of its work, present its findings and recommendations to the President.
