The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), in collaboration with the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), has installed a 15MVA transformer at its Bulk Supply Point (BSP) in Sogakope, located in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.
The project, which cost GH¢969,867.90, is part of efforts to improve power supply, reliability and voltage quality to key towns including Akatsi, Keta, Adidome, Denu, and Sogakope.
Prior to the installation, the areas were served by a 10/13MVA transformer. The new 15MVA unit is expected to ease load pressure, reduce power fluctuations, and significantly enhance service delivery across the beneficiary communities.
“This is one of our efforts in improving supply reliability and quality,” the Volta Regional General Manager of ECG, Christina Jatoe-Kaleo said during a media briefing on the project.
She reiterated ECG’s commitment to delivering consistent and quality electricity services in the region, but appealed to the public to do their part. “They should meet us by paying their bills so that we will be more flexible to embark on more projects to improve the services for all of us,” she stated.

The new installation forms part of ECG’s broader strategy to upgrade infrastructure and ensure that communities in the Volta Region receive stable and efficient electricity supply, ultimately supporting local development and economic growth.
