The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has identified the state broadcaster, GBC’s Volta Star Radio, as a critical partner in the region’s drive to position itself as Ghana’s leading tourism and investment hub.
Speaking during a working visit to the station in Ho, the regional capital Mr. Gunu stressed that the region’s rich natural and cultural attractions must be strategically promoted through the media to attract both local and international visitors and investors.
“The Volta Region is fast emerging as the best investment and tourism destination in Ghana. But to realize this fully, we need to market the region aggressively. And we cannot do that without the media—especially Volta Star Radio, which is the voice of the people and the heart of the community,” the Minister said.
He called for closer collaboration between government and media, saying, “You are key partners in development. Your coverage goes beyond Volta and reaches the diaspora. We need to work together to project our potential and attract the investment needed for job creation and economic empowerment.”

The Volta Regional Director of GBC, Mr. Franklyn Agbenyo, welcomed the Minister’s vision and pledged the station’s support. “We are fully ready to partner in this mission. With our new live streaming capability from 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, we now reach a global audience,” he said.
Mr. Agbenyo added that the station was committed to supporting initiatives that promote regional development, noting that the Minister’s visit was both symbolic and strategic.
The Volta Region boasts diverse tourist attractions, including waterfalls, mountains, cultural festivals, eco-tourism sites, and beaches.
The Minister believes that with strong media collaboration, the region can unlock its full potential and attract sustained investment.
