Ghana Tourism Authority meets Ga Mantse to deepen tourism development in Greater Accra

The newly appointed Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has paid a courtesy call on the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, marking the first official engagement between the Authority and the Ga Traditional Council aimed at deepening collaboration to promote tourism in the Greater Accra Region.

Speaking at the meeting, the CEO highlighted the region’s untapped tourism potential, citing iconic landmarks such as the Jamestown Lighthouse, colonial forts and castles, and even a local monkey sanctuary.

“Promoting these cultural treasures requires strong collaboration with the custodians of our traditions,” Maame Efua Houadjeto said.

The discussions focused on several strategic areas, including: Support for the upcoming Homowo Festival, Revamping tourism infrastructure in Jamestown , Youth engagement and training in tourism-related fields , Ghana’s preparations to host FESTAG, Africa’s leading festival of arts and culture And Promoting the Black Star Experience to attract international visitors. 

The Ga Mantse welcomed the initiative and emphasized the vital role of tourism in preserving and showcasing the rich heritage of the Ga people. He pledged the Council’s support towards a sustained partnership with the GTA. 

The visit concluded with a mutual affirmation to collaborate closely in boosting cultural tourism and community development across Greater Accra.
