The Commissioner in charge of Support Services Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Dr. Alex Adomako-Mensah, has called for stronger inter-divisional collaboration and a renewed commitment to the Authority’s vision of becoming a world-class revenue administration.
Speaking during GRA’s Support Services Division retreat in Ho, Volta Region, the Commissioner stressed the critical role that coordination and strategy alignment play in achieving the Authority’s national revenue targets. “We must continue to work together across divisions and mandates,” he urged. “We owe it to our nation and to the next generation of public servants,” he said.
The retreat, themed “Transforming GRA for Growth and Impact, SSD as the Pivot,” brought together staff to reflect, strategize, and realign with GRA’s long-term goals.
Dr. Alex Adomako-Mensah, praised the Support Services Division (SSD) for being the engine that powers the institution’s operational wings.
“You are the administrators. We set the tone for the rest of the organization,” he noted. “Without the enabling foundation you create, Customs and other divisions would be significantly handicapped in delivering our mandate effectively,” he added.
He emphasized that the SSD’s responsibilities including talent optimization, financial resource allocation, training facilitation, IT systems oversight, and service excellence are not just supportive, but foundational. “We recruit people for them, fund their operations, and ensure that the money is put to good use,” he stated. “We are here to develop a strategy that aligns with theirs so we can move in sync as one unified GRA.”
Dr. Alex Adomako-Mensah, also revealed that GRA has set a four-year revenue target of GHS 360 billion and called for bold thinking and focused strategies to meet the goal. “Without a target or set-up strategy, you cannot get to the end. There must be direction, accountability, and innovation,” he remarked.
He encouraged staff members to see themselves not just as support staff, but as architects of transformation, urging them to “reaffirm your division’s strategic importance” and embrace the challenge of steering Ghana’s revenue future.
Topics to feature for critical focus and discussion at the retreat include financial resource allocation, training facilitation, IT systems oversight, and service excellence—pillars that form the backbone of a responsive and future-ready GRA.
These discussions are aimed at equipping staff with the tools and insights needed to meet the Authority’s ambitious four-year revenue target of GHS 360 billion.
