British boxing superstar and former Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua has expressed his admiration for Ghana’s vibrant culture and warm hospitality after visiting the country for a headline boxing event. Joshua, who is of Nigerian descent, arrived in Ghana on June 13 to lead the star-studded “Battle of the Beasts” boxing event at the Bukom Boxing Arena. The event was co-organized by Sharaf Mahama, CEO of Legacy Rise Sports, and former British welterweight champion Amir Khan.
During a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama at the Jubilee House, Joshua praised Ghana’s exceptional organization, stunning culture, and warm hospitality. “Amazing country, amazing culture, hospitality, the airport, organization and I can’t wait to go back and tell everyone across the world how beautiful this place is,” Joshua stated. He also revealed that he has been in discussions with friends about potential investments in Ghana and Africa, highlighting the role sports can play in connecting the continent to the rest of the world.
Joshua’s visit to Ghana was marked by a warm welcome from fans and dignitaries, including a thrilling escort by motorbike riders showcasing Ghana’s vibrant culture. In a gesture of appreciation, President Mahama’s brother, millionaire Ibrahim Mahama, gifted Joshua a brand new Honda motorbike. The boxing star was accompanied by notable figures, including Sports Minister Kofi Adams and boxing legend Azumah Nelson, during his meeting with President Mahama.
