The Ghana Tourism Authority, an Agency under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, is leading Ghana’s participation at ITB Berlin 2026, which opened today in Berlin with a vibrant national stand showcasing the country’s cultural heritage, tourism assets and investment potential.

The three-day global travel trade fair, running from March 3 to March 5, has designated Thursday, March 5, 2026, as Ghana Day, a special platform to spotlight Ghana’s languages, cuisine, culture and business opportunities to the international tourism community.

Ghana’s pavilion attracted significant early interest, drawing visitors with striking displays of traditional arts and crafts, live demonstrations of the country’s diverse languages and the iconic Kente cloth, one of Ghana’s most recognisable cultural asset.

The stand also featured popular Ghanaian snacks and immersive multimedia presentations promoting key tourism destinations, major cultural festivals and emerging investment prospects across the hospitality, ecotourism, heritage tourism and creative arts sectors.

Seven private sector participants from Ghana are exhibiting alongside government officials as part of a coordinated national strategy to deepen trade partnerships, expand market access and attract new investment into the tourism value chain.

As the world’s largest travel and tourism trade exhibition, ITB Berlin provides Ghana with a high-level platform to engage global industry leaders, tour operators, destination marketers and investors.

Over the course of the event, the Ghanaian delegation is holding a series of business meetings, cultural showcases and investor engagement sessions designed to expand the country’s tourism footprint and strengthen international collaborations.

Earlier in the morning, preceding the official opening of the fair, the Ghana delegation engaged a group of young Ghanaian potential investors based in Germany who have expressed interest in implementing projects in Ghana. The meeting was organised by V Afrika-Verein in collaboration with the Ghana Embassy in Germany.

The session was attended by Ghana’s Ambassador to Germany, Prof. Ohene Adjei, who joined the delegation in discussions aimed at strengthening diaspora investment linkages. The Ghana team, led by Deputy Chief Executive Officer (General Services) Mr. Ben Annane Nsiah, addressed the group on emerging opportunities in Ghana, particularly within the tourism industry.

The interactive engagement provided a platform for participants to ask questions and highlight concerns, including customer service standards, road infrastructure challenges and delays in processing business documentation. Officials assured the group that ongoing reforms and policy measures are being implemented to improve the ease of doing business and enhance service delivery across key sectors.

Thursday’s Ghana Day programme will feature curated cultural performances, culinary experiences and targeted business-to-business engagements aimed at strengthening investor confidence and forging strategic partnerships.

Officials emphasised that Ghana’s participation aligns with its broader strategy to position the country as the “Gateway to Africa,” leveraging its political stability, rich heritage assets and expanding infrastructure to attract both leisure travellers and international investors.

Ghana’s strong and coordinated presence at ITB Berlin 2026 underscores the country’s commitment to accelerating tourism growth, promoting its cultural assets and positioning itself competitively within the global travel market.
