A 41-year-old educationist has been outdoored as the 5th Paramount Chief of Jirapa under the skin name, Naa Dinaa Donglabong Ganaa III. The new chief, known in private life as Justice Donglabong Dinaa, is the Coordinator in charge of Culture at the Jirapa Municipal Education Office.

He succeeds Naa Ansoleh Ganaa II, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), Peter Nanfuri, who ruled from 23rd July, 2005 to 17th February, 2023.

GBC’s Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo reports that a large crowd of people from across the Jirapa Traditional Area converged at the Naayiri Park in Jirapa for the out-dooring ceremony amid pomp and glitter.

The President of Ullo Traditional Council, Naa Basing Naa II, known in private capacity as Professor Bruce Banoe Yakubu who presided at the function, underscored the necessity for humility to continue to find space in the affairs of the new Paramount Chief.

“I will urge him to continue to be a humble man, to be a good leader, to be somebody who has the ability to be able to solve problems. He should not in anyway push others because there is a discord among them. What he should be doing is to reconcile his his people,” he  emphasized.

Naa Dinaa Donglabing Ganaa said his vision is to rally people for socio-economic advancement: “My vision is for the Municipality to wake up from its slumber. We have relaxed for so long, so much so that we have begun to decline in our BECE [Basic Education Certificate Examination] results, even the WASSCE [West African Senior School Certificate Examination] results. And even the Hospital that used to be a referral point in the Region has also become stagnant, and nothing to write home about. So I want to reawaken that hardwork spirit, the can do spirit in my people. So that going forward, we will get back in our feet and walk majestically as we have always done as far as the Region [Upper West] is concerned.”

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Jirapa, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, pledged his support to the Chief towards the development of Jirapa and entreated the chiefs and elders of the traditional area to help resolve the chieftaincy disputes in some areas to enhance unity and progress.

Among the dignitaries that graced the occasion were a retired Appeals Court Judge, Justice Francis Korbieh, and the Municipal Coordinating Director for Jirapa, Majeed Ayariga.
