The 13th Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Sophia Akuffo officially retires today (December  20, 2019). Madam Akuffo will be remembered for introducing E-Justice as part of legal reforms in Ghana’s Judicial service

She was the first Chief Justice who visited all the courts in the country and closed down dilapidated ones.

She also introduced welfare policies for the Judicial Service Association of Ghana, JUSAG and ensured that salaries and service conditions of lower courts were addressed.

Retiring as the second female Chief Justice, Madam Sophia Akuffo has been a Judge of the Supreme Court of Ghana since 1995.

She has been outspoken on the need to manage the in-take of law students each year, to ensure the country produces quality lawyers who will uphold the integrity of the profession.
