The Ghana Highway Authority has announced a temporary reduction in the number of lanes on the North-South bound carriageway at the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange, affecting the Madina–Accra and Accra–Madina directions.
This lane reduction is part of the ongoing Accra-Tema Motorway and Extensions Project, which spans 19.5 kilometres. The change is to allow for central pier construction works as part of the expansion of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange Bridge.
Starting from Sunday, 22nd June 2025, the number of lanes on the affected stretch will reduce from four to three lanes in both directions. This arrangement will be in place for approximately four months.
According to the statement released on June 19 by the Authority, the decision is to provide a safe working environment for construction personnel and to ensure the safety of all road users.
The public is being urged to drive cautiously, follow directional signs, and cooperate with traffic officials during this period.
