Ibrahim Idrisu, the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) parliamentary candidate for Nima East, has outlined his plans to tackle youth unemployment, strengthen technical and vocational education, and improve community infrastructure ahead of the March 3, 2026 by-election.
In an exclusive interview with GBC news after a debate organised by the Concerned Nima Citizens Foundation, Idrisu said his policies are focused on providing practical skills to young people and creating opportunities for self-reliance.
“I am an artisan by profession and I graduated from Ghanata College of Art and Design,” Idrisu explained. “My focus is to make technical and vocational training compulsory for every student. Whether it is plumbing, electrical work, hairdressing, or graphic design, students will learn skills that can directly put food on the table.”
Idrisu outlined plans to create workshops in schools across the constituency, where professional trainers will teach students selected skills. He added that additional instructional hours will be incorporated into school schedules to ensure all students gain practical experience.
Addressing unemployment and market challenges in Nima East, Idrisu said he will work to improve road networks and streamline revenue collection from traders to benefit the community. He emphasized that his approach is centered on fairness, transparency, and empowering residents rather than personal gain.
“Most elections have been dominated by older politicians who take young people for granted,” Idrisu said. “I am part of the youth, and if given the opportunity, I will implement policies that bring transformation and progress to Nima East.”
He urged residents, particularly young people, to support his candidacy, saying: “All my message is about you, the youth. Push me, support me, so that we can open the doors of progress in Nima East.”
The Nima by-election is scheduled for March 3, 2026, with candidates from the NDC, NPP, LPG, and independent contenders competing for the parliamentary seat.
