The Manhyia Palace has lauded Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah for his outstanding leadership and transformative impact as Chief Executive Officer of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). As his tenure comes to an end, the Palace described him as “the best thing to happen to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital from the year 2000 to date.”
Professor Addai-Mensah was commended for playing a key role in the successful execution of the King’s Legacy Project, a vision of His Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, aimed at elevating healthcare delivery in Asanteman and beyond.
The Palace acknowledged that, through his leadership, a long-held dream had been realized.
A statement shared via Facebook highlighted the transformation of KATH under his stewardship, describing it as a “modern center of medical excellence — a place where innovation meets compassion and where true healing begins.”
His administration repositioned Komfo Anokye as not only a beacon of excellence but also the most preferred teaching hospital in Ghana.

“Thank you for making our King’s Legacy Project a success and a dream come true,” the statement read. “Thank you for healing Komfo Anokye.”
The Palace further expressed heartfelt gratitude and extended best wishes for Professor Addai-Mensah in his future endeavors.

Professor Addai-Mensah was officially relieved of his duties on 2nd May 2025, following a meeting with the Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandor.
In the wake of his departure, President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo, an orthopaedic surgeon, to serve as the next Chief Executive Officer of KATH.
