The Norwegian Embassy in Ghana has closed its offices after one of its staff tested positive for the Coronavirus.

Ghana confirmed two cases of the deadly virus on Thursday with affected persons said to have travelled from Norway and Turkey.

The Norwegian Embassy in Ghana in a statement posted on Facebook confirmed the nationality of the Norwegian saying “We can confirm that one of our colleagues has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and has been quarantined”.

It added that the Embassy is in close dialogue with the Ghana Health Service and routine contact tracing has began, stressing that all staff are also in quarantine and the Embassy is fully committed to assist with containment.

The Embassy is closed to the public until further notice, but staff are working from home.

Meanwhile, UNDP and UNICEF offices in Accra have asked their staff to stay home until further notice, explaining that the directive is in view of a staff who has been infected by the Coronavirus.

In a related development, Ghana’s pandemic Management Committee has asked all to remain calm as it works around the clock to suppress the virus.

After a crunch meeting held at the Ministry of Health, members were upbeat about measures put in place to ensure that Ghanaians remain safe in the wake of the coronavirus scare.

They advised that outlined health preventive measures should be adhered to at all times.
