The Ghana Police Service (GPS) has apprehended three persons identified as Adams Zibo, Massawud Yussif, and Kenneth Khartey, alleged to be part of the Gold Robbery gang.
The Ghana Police Service said through an intelligence-led operation, it successfully foiled a planned robbery and arrested three suspects who were targeting a gold consignment valued at over GH₵1.3 million.
The police successfully secured the gold consignment, which weighed approximately 1.2 kilograms and was valued at GH₵1,350,343.53. The gold dealer was also rescued unharmed.
The police in a Facebook post states that the Special Support Unit (SSU) of the Service at the National Headquarters commenced the operation on Wednesday, 25th June 2025, following indications that a gold dealer’s driver and a man posing as his bodyguard had conspired to rob the dealer during a scheduled gold delivery the following day.
According to the post preliminary investigations revealed that on Thursday, 26th June 2025, Kenneth Khartey was arrested near Akuapem–Mamfe while riding a motorbike and trailing a Land Cruiser transporting the gold consignment.
Later that same day, suspects Adams Zibo and Massawud Yussif were also arrested at East Legon in an unregistered blue Hyundai vehicle.
“Investigations established that the two (2) suspects procured firearms, motorbikes, and a getaway vehicle for the robbery and were responsible for the sale of the gold after the robbery.
The gold dealer was rescued safely, and the gold, weighing approximately 1.2 kilograms and valued at GHC 1,350,343.5,3, was also secured,” portions of the FB post read.
According to the police, all three suspects are in custody, assisting the investigation, and will be put before the court.
