The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has issued a strong warning to the public regarding unlicensed investment products being promoted by two online platforms, News GH and Ghana News on various social media channels.

In a statement released on July 1, 2025, the SEC urged the public to exercise vigilance and refrain from engaging with these schemes, which have not been approved under Ghana‘s securities regulations.

According to the statement, News GH is promoting an unlicensed product known as the “Gold AI Rise Platform”, while Ghana News is advertising an unnamed investment product that promises “unrealistic returns at no risk.”

“The SEC has not licensed any of the above-mentioned entities to carry out capital market activities as required under Section 3 of the Securities Industry Act, 2016 (Act 929), as amended,” the Commission emphasized.

The SEC further disclosed that it is working in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to identify and clamp down on the individuals and networks behind these unauthorised operations.

As part of its investor protection mandate, the SEC reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining oversight of Ghana’s securities market and to regularly publish relevant information to educate and safeguard the investing public.

“The general public is advised to verify the licensing status of any entity offering investment-related products or services by contacting the SEC via its toll-free number 0800100065, main lines 0302768970-2, or by email at info@sec.gov.gh,” the statement added.
