Tragedy struck the Volta Regional capital yesterday evening when a State Transport Corporation (STC) van collided with a tricycle near the Fidelity Bank stretch in Ho. The accident occurred around 9:30 PM.
The STC van, which an eyewitness says was traveling at top speed from the Accra direction, rammed into the tricycle with force.
The accident resulted in casualties, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured, ranging from cuts to suspected fractures, were rushed to the Ho Teaching Hospital for emergency care.
A passenger aboard the STC van, Apostle Prosper Agbeti, speaking in an interview with the media, blamed the crash on the driver’s reckless behavior.
He explained that the driver of the STC van was making and receiving calls throughout the journey while over speeding.
Apostle Agbeti, however, dismissed claims by some bystanders suggesting the accident was caused by brake failure. He insisted that it was the result of the driver’s total negligence.
