Two persons, Mohammed Basit, 18, and Baba Rasid, 22, have been arrested by the Walewale Police in the North East Region for stealing a pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration officer.

The theft occurred on Saturday, May 17, 2025, when the suspects broke into the officer’s room and stole a Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition and two CZ rifle magazines loaded with 30 rounds each.

The suspects were caught through police intelligence at Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale, where they attempted to hide the stolen items in a stationary vehicle.

In a statement signed by Deputy Superintendent of Police, Robert Anabiik Anmain, from the Public Relations Unit of the North East Regional Police Command, it emphasized that investigations are ongoing and the suspects will face court proceedings.
