The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has inaugurated a seven-member committee to investigate emerging issues surrounding the Keta reclaimed land.

The committee, chaired by Dr. Joe Attipoe, is tasked with examining discrepancies between the official land layout and the current developments on the ground.

The Regional Minister expressed deep concern over the inconsistencies and emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in land administration within the area.

The committee will probe the activities of the Keta Municipal Assembly, key stakeholders, and individuals believed to be involved in the matter. According to him, the move forms part of broader efforts to ensure responsible land use and to support the re-modernization agenda of the Keta Municipality.

Dr. Attipoe, in his acceptance remarks, assured the people of Keta of the Committee’s commitment to delivering a thorough and impartial investigation. “We will not disappoint the people. We understand the weight of the responsibility and will work diligently to honour the trust reposed in us,” he said.

The committee has been given one month to submit its report to the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC). He stressed that the recommendations of the committee will be implemented without fear or favour.

The inauguration underscores the Regional Minister’s resolve to restore confidence in public land management and promote sustainable development in the Volta Region.
