Five persons have been confirmed dead in Friday’s torrential downpour in Takoradi in the Western Region.
The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan NADMO Director, James Obeng Jnr. who confirmed the incident said the deaths occurred at Ngyeresia, a fishing community in Sekondi when a mud house collapsed on a family.
Areas such as Anaji, Effiekuma, Sekondi, Kwansarodo, Intankoful among others were completely submerged by the downpour.
Roads in the capital including Bankyease-I Adu, Effiekuma No.9 police quarters, Anaji Choice Mart have been rendered inaccessible by the floods.
Reports indicates that the police rushed in to manage and direct both drivers and passengers to access safe routes.
Also, several properties running into millions of cedis have been destroyed as a result of the rains.
