The Wa-Nandom-Hamile road has been reopened to traffic. On September 1, the 250 metre stretch of the road at Yiziri was opened to traffic, but the road had to be closed again after heavy rains on September 1 and 2.

When the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih, led a team of officials to inspect roads in the region, the road had been temporarily fixed and opened to traffic.

The team ascertained the level of work done by contractors who had been engaged to execute emergency road projects.

The Managing Director of Aschal Construction Limited, contractors for the Daffiama-Fian road, Mohammed Baba said there was initial difficulty in fixing that part of the road due to the continuous rains.

He said the severity of the situation did not deter the contractors from quickly putting the road in good shape.

The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih reiterated government’s commitment to fixing all the damaged roads in the region.
