In a heartwarming display of empathy and compassion, the 2020 Running-mate to former President John Mahama and the National Democratic Congress, Professor Naana Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has extended her heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Akosombo Dam spillage, a man-made calamity that has wreaked havoc on numerous lives.

Expressing deep concern for those who have been displaced, especially women and vulnerable children who are often the most affected by such tragedies, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang offered solace and reassurance in a time of dire need.

During her visit to the affected areas, including Mepe, Agokuenu, and Adidome the NDC’s 2020 Running-mate imparted words of wisdom and comfort to the distressed victims, reminding them that disasters are, unfortunately, an inevitable part of life. However, she encouraged victims to maintain faith and hope, emphasizing that God’s providence would ultimately see them through these challenging times.

In addition to her comforting words, she also took concrete steps to alleviate the suffering of the flood victims by presenting a range of assorted food items.

She said, her generous act of charity not only aimed to provide immediate relief but also symbolized the unity and collective strength that can arise during times of crisis, as individuals and communities come together to support one another.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang acknowledge the resilience being shown by those affected, and echoed the sentiment of many Ghanaians who are asking for a national emergency to be declared.

She therefore called on individuals, philanthropists, corporate organisations to demonstrate their true Ghanaian hospitality, charity, and concern to help fellow citizens and others who are struggling through these trying times.
