Police say calm has been restored in Akyem Oda after a violent clash involving young men armed with cutlasses at the town’s New Station area.

In a press release dated May 6, 2026, the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service said officers responded after videos circulated online showing groups of men attacking each other with cutlasses.

The release was issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern South Regional Command of the Ghana Police Service in Kibi and signed by DSP David Fianko-Okyere on behalf of the command.

According to the statement, police teams moved to the scene to restore order and later traced two suspects to separate hospitals in the area.

One of the injured men, identified as 30-year-old George Okyere, was found at Oda Jubilee Hospital with a deep cut to his forehead and a severed right finger, police said.

Another suspect, identified as Paul Pascalele, was receiving treatment at the Akyem Oda Government Hospital for what police described as a deep cut to his right hand.

Police also confirmed the arrest of a third suspect, Evans Adayele, who was picked up at a hideout to assist with investigations.

The statement said efforts were continuing to arrest other suspects linked to the violence for further investigation and possible prosecution.
