The Asantehene, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has pledged a sum of GH₵ 500,000.00 in education fund to support education among the people of Ga.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II disclosed this during his historic visit to the Ga State on 9th June, 2024.

The visit is the second time an Asantehene has visited the Ga State, but the first time since 1946.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II’s visit is to build on the existing healthy relationship established by Otumfuo Sir Agyeman Prempeh II when he made the first Asantehen visit to the Ga Mantse, 78 years ago.

The visit is aimed at promoting peace and unity between these two kingdoms and by extension among all Ghanians.

In his address at the Durbar, Otumfuo noted that education is essential to a nation’s development and must be accorded the necessary support and attention.

Otumfuo further noted that in the absence of war, peace and harmony, unity and prosperity, reigns and therefore the need for the Ga State and Ashantis to remain united to drive development.

He applauded the Ga Mantse for his support to him during the 25th anniversary of his ascension to the Asante throne as an Asante King.

He again, assured the Ga Mantse his unfading support anytime he will be called upon by the Ga State.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II ended his speech by calling for support from all members of the Ga State for Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II.

“All Chiefs must come together in unity to ensure that, our country Ghana is developed. Ashantis in ancient times fought for lands. But in this contemporary time, there is no war. There’s unity, peace, and collaboration ensuring that the next generation will inherit prosperity”.

“Otumfuo and Ga Mantse do not collect taxes from their people. Our focus is to establish healthy relationships, encourage peace and unity among our people to forge ahead for prosperity”.

“You spent more than a week with me in Kumasi when I celebrated my 25th anniversary of ascension to the Ashanti throne. I appreciate your support and this visit is also to say thank you for what you did for me. You showed me love and I have come to add to that love and make sure it continues to live”.

The Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II lauded Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for the education fund project.

He thanked Otumfuo for his visit, adding that, it will help improve the unity that exist between them.

Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II used the occasion to urge a healthy campaign among the political parties as Ghana prepares to vote in the presidential and parliamentary elections on December 7.

He said Ghanaians must know that peace is the only option for the country and it cannot be compromised.
