A tribute was paid to the late former District Chief Executive of Bongo, Joseph Abaah Akansake, for his significant contributions to local development.
Peter Ayimbisa, the Upper East Regional Communications Officer of the New Patriotic Party, says the district would have seen even greater progress if the late DCE had lived longer. Speaking on his leadership, Mr. Ayimbisa described Akansake as an experienced and dedicated public servant who prioritized the needs of his people.

“I have known Joseph for a very long time. We all met in the Bongo Assembly as Assembly members. We worked in the same sub-committee. We also worked in Sirigu Senior High School together. So he came at the backdrop of the fact that he has had the necessary experience as an assembly member.” Ayimbisa recounted.
According to him, Joseph Abaah Akansake provided him with strong support during his tenure, particularly throughout his time serving in the District as Chief Executive. He emphasized that the late DCE’s commitment to development was evident in several key projects he championed.
Mr. Ayimbisa highlighted that one of Akansake’s notable achievements was continuing work on the District Assembly block, a project that had been abandoned since 2008.
He also credited him with initiating and completing several water projects aimed at improving access to clean drinking water.

“He has done a lot of water projects, educational infrastructure, the provision of street lights and students’ support are some of the legacies we will remember him for.” He added.
In addition, the late DCE contributed to the expansion of educational infrastructure, the installation of street lights across parts of the district, and support programs for students.
Mr. Ayimbisa concluded that Joseph Abaah Akansake’s legacy will be remembered for years to come, as his efforts laid a strong foundation for the continued development of the district.
