Commercial Road Transport Operators have kicked against government’s decision to increase road tolls.

A joint statement signed by Ghana Committed Drivers Association, Truth Drivers and Concern Drivers Association said they have picked up intelligence that there are plans to add the tolls to the prices of fuel at the pumps to do away with the toll booths.

It said commercial road transport operation is already reeling under serious high fuel price increases coupled with daily increases in spare parts.

As a result, any additional tax or increase in road toll will collapse their business.

The Statement said the road tolls collected over the years have not reflected in the routine maintenance of roads. It suggested that the Road Fund be used for its intended purpose.
