Communication Specialist and Gender Advocate, Mercy Adjabeng, says people must stop bleaching and start affirming who they are.

Speaking on the GTV Breakfast show Headlines segment on January 28, 2022, she said being dark is not substandard.

“There is nothing wrong with being dark-skinned or black. God is an artist and he decided to do it that way”, she noted.

She however stated that skin bleaching is not about education but rather the mindset.

”It is not about education. It is the mindset that you accept who you are and you are proud of”, she added.

Mrs. Adjabeng added that people are being brainwashed that being light skinned is closer to civilization and is much more appealing than being black skinned.

“We have been made to think, in fact brainwashed. If you are fair skinned, it means you are closer to civilization than you are dark skinned. If you are dark skinned, I mean you are a …….It means that is what I am appealing for, that is what is wanted and because we tend to live up to society’s expectations and standards many people will want to do so”, she added.
