Chief Executive of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA), Julius Neequaye Kotey, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to bringing its services closer to the public. He revealed that since the government assumed office, the DVLA has established seven new offices nationwide as part of a deliberate effort to enhance accessibility and convenience.

“This is the seventh office we are opening in just ten months. The first was the 24-hour office at Adenta. After that, we opened offices in Bole, Akwatia, Asamankese, Dormaa, and Bechem and now, this Ultra Modern Centre at Dansoman marks our seventh,” Mr. Kotey stated.

He explained that the initiative is designed to make it easier for citizens to access DVLA services without travelling long distances. Mr. Kotey made these remarks during the inauguration of the new DVLA Ultra Modern Centre at Dansoman in Accra, noting that the move aligns with the government’s broader vision to decentralize public services and meet the needs of Ghanaians more efficiently.

The newly opened Dansoman Ultra Modern DVLA Centre, located within the Ablekuma West Municipality, will serve residents of Dansoman, Banana Inn, Mamprobi, Sakaman, Odorkor, and surrounding communities. The facility offers the full range of DVLA services, including driver’s licence applications, renewals, upgrades, replacements, vehicle registration, and licence conversions.

Mr. Kotey described the Dansoman office as part of the Authority’s “Ultra Concept”,a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model aimed at decentralizing operations and improving service delivery across the country

.“The Ultra Concept was developed under the previous administration, and I must acknowledge that it is a great initiative. Under this PPP arrangement, the centre will deliver the same quality of services available at all DVLA offices nationwide,” he said.

He added that the new centre will also create employment opportunities for people within the catchment area. He said, staffing will primarily come from the local community, with at least 50 percent of employees drawn from Dansoman.

He emphasized that the area has many well-educated residents capable of managing the operations effectively, consistent with the Authority’s policy of employing half of its workforce from host communities.

The Dansoman MTTD Commander, DSP Aboagye Duffuor, praised the DVLA for establishing the new office, stating that it will significantly benefit residents by bringing essential services closer to them.

“Previously, we had to travel to Weija or 37, now Bohye, to access these services. Today, they are right at our doorstep,” he said.

The Private Partner for the Dansoman Ultra Modern Centre, Emmanuel Appiah Adjei, also commended the government and the DVLA for their collaboration in making the new facility a reality.
