We haven’t been given any money to run GBC- Amin Alhassan

The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Amin Alhassan has stated that, his outfit has not been given any money from Government to run the corporation apart from the salaries being paid to the staff.

He made this statement when the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar paid a courtesy call to the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.

According to the Director-General, his outfit has been running on its own for a long time without the intervention of the government.

He referred to the fact that, the Outside Broadcasting (OB) vans the state-owned corporation owns was given to them by former President John Kuffour during his tenure and the two vans have been running ever since.

He made a call on the Minister of Information to help provide two OB vans for the media house to be stationed in Accra and Kumasi.

Fatimatu Abubakar also mentioned that, she was happy to see that the media house is doing well in regards to social media.

She also assured the media house that, her outfit will provide tools and resources to help in the coverage of the upcoming elections.

She made mention of the fact that, her outfit is aware of the attacks on journalists and has them in mind. She made a tour of the corporation.
