The Ghana Private Road Transport Union, GPRTU has hinted of going ahead with its intended strike after government’s refusal to abolish some levies on petroleum products in the 2022 Budget presented to Parliament.
Head of Communications at the Union Abass Imoro expressed displeasure at the situation. He was however pleased with the abolition of Road Toll but was quick to add that, it is not enough to address the plight of Commercial Transport Operators.
Mr. Imoro told Nathaniel Nartey that the Union will meet on November 19, 2021 to finalize its decision.
“We are highly disappointed because we presented a petition which has never been touched and nobody is happy about that although we suggested the scrapping of the Road Tolls nationwide which has been done but that isn’t our major concern as commercial drivers…. we haven’t changed our stance to a possible sit down strike until we meet tomorrow,” according to the Head of Communications at GPRTU Abass Imoro.
