The Chairperson of Parliament’s Health Committee, Dr. Mark Kurt Nawaane, has confirmed that today’s meeting with the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) was fruitful.

The four-hour closed-door meeting, attended by both Majority and Minority members, the Health Minister, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and GRNMA leadership, aimed to resolve the ongoing industrial action.

Following the meeting, GRNMA leadership requested time to discuss the outcome with their entire council  before announcing a final decision.

The strike, which began earlier this week, stems from demands for immediate implementation of the 2024 Collective Agreement, including unpaid allowances and delayed postings.

While the government proposed a 2026 implementation due to budget constraints, GRNMA insists on immediate action.

However, after Thursday’s meeting, Parliament’s Health Committee members are hopeful for a positive outcome in the coming days.
