Henry Djaba Foundation launches fair to support persons with disability

Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation in partnership with the UN Population Fund has launched its first-ever Ability Fair in Accra solely for persons with disabilities and children with Special Needs.

The event provided an opportunity for persons with disabilities to demonstrate their unique skills, talents and abilities.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Founder and CEO of the Foundation, Madam Otiko Afisah Djaba said there is the need to reduce the huge barriers between the abled and people living with disability in respect to job creation.

The UN Population Fund in collaboration with Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation HDMF, an NGO that has been helping persons with disabilities since December 2018 had its first conference for persons with disabilities in Accra.

The conference was to launch a two-day ability fair under the theme” Creating opportunities for persons with disabilities slated for 30th and 31st of next month.

Executive Director and founder of HDMF, Otiko Afisah Djaba explained to the gathering what to expect on the two- days that the event will be held.

She said the basic goal of the fair is to open doors to persons with disabilities in the job market.

A representative of the United Nations Population Fund attested to the necessity for the Fair and expressed her joy to be part of the occasion, and how it is in alignment with the sustainable development goals 2030.

Chairman for the launch and chairman of MASLOC Board Seth Adjei Baah said MASLOC has a programme to help people with disability, pledging his full support to the Foundation.
