Kate Addo appointed Acting Coordinating Director of Public Affairs in Parliament

The Right Honorable Speaker of Parliament, Alban Sumana Bagbin as part of the 30th anniversary celebration of parliament, is meeting with the chiefs and people of the Northern Region as part of activities to commemorate this year’s anniversary.

As part of the engagement, the Speaker in an address to members of the Ghana Journalist Association in Tamale, announced the appointment of Ms Kate Addo as Acting Coordinating Director of the Public Affairs of Parliament following the departmental restructuring early this year.

As part of her position as the Coordinating Director, Ms. Addo will oversee the works and Directors of the various departments under her division thus, Media relations/ public engagement and broadcasting.

Ms. Addo comes with 25 years of experience in public service with 19 years of active parliamentary service rising from Ag. Director to substantive.

The Speaker, widely known for his position on women’s participation and inclusion at every level of national development considers how this effort will engender confidence and encourage more women’s participation in aspiring for higher opportunities at every stage of national discus to improve effort and productivity predominantly in the space of communication.

The Speaker while in Tamale will call on three traditional rulers including the Yendi, Damongo and Nalerigu chiefs to discuss the progress of Ghanaian democracy and the contribution of traditional leadership in sustaining three decades of democracy under the 4th Republic.

The 30th celebration is under the theme “30 years of Parliamentary Democracy, the journey thus far”

The celebration will feature activities including a peace walk to be led by the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honorable Andrew Asiamah Amoako at Bolgatanga, a mock parliamentary session in Wa and a public forum in Tamale.
