The Director-General of the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), Professor Amin Alhassan says new media is the order of the day and has a lot of opportunities for businesses.

He said within 5 years, any station that is not online will cease to exist in the media space. This is because “the traditional market advertising revenue is declining at a fast pace”.

Professor Alhassan said this during the graduation of students who went through six months of training in Radio and Television broadcasting.

He indicated that the digital space is the future of broadcasting and encouraged the graduands to acquire more knowledge in the new media.

When GBC NEWS interacted with some of the graduands they expressed satisfaction with the experience and skills acquired through the training school and were full of praise for the facilitators.

They said they are ready to become Ambassadors of the training school and impress upon others to attend the school to acquire knowledge and skills in broadcasting.

Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC), the premier station in Ghana runs a training school in Radio and Television Broadcasting for 6 months which offers the opportunity for students to acquire knowledge in journalism.

During the period, the students are taken through rigorous theory lessons and effective practicals to enable them to acquire broader knowledge in broadcasting and the new media.
