Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has called for regulation of courier companies in the country, as many delivery riders often tamper with food meant for customers.

Speaking at the Public Accounts Committee hearing in Parliament on the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission on Monday, November 3, 2025, Mr. George highlighted the need for such regulation due to concerns over the prevalence of tampering with customers’ packages, citing instances where customers receive food they ordered with the meat already eaten.

“We need to have regulation of our courier services because people order food, it arrives, and the meat has been eaten,” he said.

According to him, the regulation is necessary to protect consumers.

The Public Accounts Committee is chaired by Abena Osei-Asare, MP for Atiwa East, with Samuel Atta Mills, MP for Komenda, serving as the Ranking Member. The committee’s mandate includes ensuring accountability and transparency in government sectors.
