Management of the Northern Development Forum, NDF, a development oriented organization comprising five regions of the north has expressed regret about the resurgence of conflicts and violence in some parts of Northern Ghana.

A statement signed by its Chairman, Major (Rtd) Albert Don-Chebe, said it is about time people of Northern dissent harnessed their scarce resources and energies to fight poverty, deprivation and ignorance, which are the common enemies impeding the development of their general well-being.

The statement specifically mentioned communities such as Bawku, Kandiga and Doba in the Upper East Region as well as Bimbilla in the Northern Region as areas noted for such disturbing developments.

The NDF expressed sadness about the untold hardship, and retaliatory tendencies brought on residents in the affected areas.

It said inasmuch as the people of Northern Ghana cherish the richness and historical diversity of cultures, it is imperative that these cultures are protected in an atmosphere of mutual respect, cooperation and sharing of unique identities.

These differences, it added, should not provide any ground for inter-ethnic or inter-communal clashes for supremacy and dominance.

The NDF is equally appalled by the resources being channeled into protecting lives and property of innocent people at the expense of healthy dialogue and mediation among feuding factions.
