Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikwei Central in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Patrick Yaw Boamah, has been appointed Ambassador for the 2025 edition of the Christian Home Week (CHW) celebrations.

His appointment was officially unveiled at the launch of the 2025 CHW at the head office of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Osu, Accra.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Boamah called for the intentional building of thriving homes and emphasized the importance of strengthening families and marriages in Ghana.

He shared profound insights on parenting, citing Proverbs 22:6 to reinforce his message. He stated that the verse serves as a powerful reminder that parenting is not just a personal responsibility but a spiritual investment in the future. When children are raised in homes where faith is lived out through the word and prayer, they grow up anchored in values that shape their character and guide their decisions.

Mr. Boamah further affirmed the significance of strong family foundations, saying, “Such homes become the training ground for future leaders—men and women who will carry these principles throughout their lifetime.”

He also encouraged the audience to reflect on the true meaning of marriage. “As we celebrate marriages, let us remember that the meaningful way is about purpose, a love that lasts, a home that nurtures, and a legacy that inspires,” he said.

According to the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), organisers of this year’s CHW, their partnership with the Okaikwei Central MP is aimed at strengthening family bonds and promoting a culture of love, understanding, and respect. They explained that Mr. Boamah’s dedication to promoting the welfare of families and communities through his philanthropic initiatives makes him the ideal choice for the ambassadorial role.

Chairing the occasion was the Founder of the Atta Mills Institute, Mr. Koku Anyidoho, who referenced former U.S. President Donald Trump’s stance on gender, citing Genesis 1:26–27 to support the view that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

For her part, the Special Guest of Honour, Dr. Fatima Alabo, emphasised the importance of marriage preparation and urged church leaders to educate the public on the divine nature of marriage. “Marriage is a divine institution that should be celebrated with Christ at the centre,” she said.

The event also featured participation from Christian leaders, representatives from the Registrar General’s Department, and the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy, and Religious Affairs, among others.

The theme for the 2025 CHW is “Celebrating Marriage, the Right and Meaningful Way”, and the event will be held from May 19 to 25, 2025. It is organised by the CCG in collaboration with the Registrar General’s Department.

Christian Home Week is an annual event, often celebrated in February, that focuses on strengthening marriages and families within Christian communities. It features special observances like Christian Marriage Day and Christian Home Day, and offers resources to support family well-being, emphasizing the role of faith in nurturing strong relationships.
