Paul Adom-Otchere, former Board Chair of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), has released a touching video capturing his return home and reunion with family following his release from the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
The video, which surfaced online less than a day after his release, offers a candid glimpse into the emotional toll of his recent detention. The footage shows a visibly moved Adom-Otchere in conversation with his wife, who disclosed the widespread support he received from influential personalities during the period.
She mentioned, among others, former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and Second Lady Samira Bawumia as having expressed solidarity with the family amid the legal challenge.
Paul Adom-Otchere’s recent troubles stem from an ongoing investigation by the OSP into a controversial procurement contract signed during his tenure at the GACL. The case involves the award of a contract for the construction of a Christmas-themed decoration at Kotoka International Airport, which reportedly raised concerns about procurement breaches, value for money, and transparency.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, in July 2025 confirmed that Adom-Otchere had been invited for questioning in connection with the matter. He was later detained briefly as part of the investigation process.
Though not formally charged, his detention sparked significant public and political attention, given his status as a prominent media personality and former government appointee.
Adom-Otchere has yet to issue a full public statement regarding the investigation but is expected to address the matter more comprehensively in the coming days.
