The Police has arrested a man captured in a viral video assaulting a woman believed to be his wife at Ofankor in the Greater Accra Region. The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey was arreseted by the Criminal Investigations Department on Monday, November 17, 2025 at their residence.
The vidoe went viral after a neighbour who witnessed the incident reportedly recorded the act and shared the footage on social media describing the man as a landlord who frequently abused his wife.
A statement issued by the Police said, two of the suspect’s siblings, Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey, were also taken into custody after they attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the video, following the arrest of their brother.
The tenant was rescued by police to ensure her safety.
The Statement furhter indicated that efforts are underway to locate and ensure the safety of the wife who had fled the scene before the Police arrived.
