The Asokwa Police in Kumasi have arrested one Kwabena Aboagye in connection with the death of a three-month-old baby at Dompoase/Aprabon.

According to the police, the baby’s mother, Spendylove Aninwa, who is currently a candidate in the ongoing WASSCE, entrusted her child to the baby’s father, Kwabena Aboagye, on Monday morning to enable her to sit the examination.

On her return, Aboagye’s younger sister handed the baby back to her, claiming the child was asleep. The mother, however, realised the baby was stiff and quickly rushed him to a nearby clinic at Sokoban Wood Village, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police officers who later arrived at the clinic found the baby lying in a sweater with no visible marks on the body. The body was conveyed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

Aboagye is currently in police custody, assisting with investigations to establish the cause of death.
