President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Minsk to begin a state visit to the Republic of Belarus.
Upon arrival, he was received at the airport by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich and a delegation of senior government officials.
As part of the visit, President Mahama paid tribute to Belarusian and Soviet soldiers who died during World War II by laying a wreath at the Victory Monument in Minsk.
The wreath-laying ceremony was attended by the Governor of Minsk, Vladimir Kukharev, officials from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ghana’s Ambassador to Russia, Dr Koma Steem Jehu-Appiah.

President Mahama also visited Belagro 2026, an international agricultural exhibition, accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister. The exhibition showcases the latest agricultural equipment, heavy-duty farming and mining machinery, and innovations from various sectors.
During the tour, the President viewed products and equipment from the Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ), Minskyekspo ZAO, Bobruiskagromash, and the BelAZ-75710, one of the world’s largest haul trucks.

In a brief remark, President Mahama described the visit, which is at the invitation of the President of Belarus, as timely and aligned with his government’s vision to modernise and transform Ghana’s agricultural sector by drawing on Belarusian expertise and technology.
While commending the quality of the machinery on display, he stressed that reliable technical support, the availability of spare parts, and effective after-sales service would be essential considerations before any agreements or purchases are finalised.
