The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board, Mr. Sammy Gyamfi Esq., says over 240 gold trading Licences have been approved under Ghana’s new gold licensing regime.
Speaking to the media in Accra, Mr. Gyamfi said the licences were granted after applicants successfully met the eligibility criteria. He revealed that as of the final deadline on June 21, 2025, the Gold Board had received over 300 applications for Tier 1 Buyer Licences, around 200 for Tier 2 Buyer Licences, 30 for Self-Financing Aggregator Licences, and 15 for Aggregator Licences.
He noted that although the deadline had passed, the licensing process remains open. Interested individuals and businesses can still apply, but they must wait until their licence is approved before engaging in any gold trading activity.
To make the process easier and more transparent, the Gold Board has moved the application system online. Applicants now receive updates via email and their online accounts, while all fees are paid through the Ghana.gov platform.
Mr. Gyamfi encouraged all stakeholders to comply with the new regulations to avoid legal consequences and support fair and legal gold trading that benefits the country’s economy.
