Caterers who worked under the Ghana School Feeding Programme say they will send a petition to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, appealing for his intervention after their contracts were cancelled by the Mahama administration.

The government terminated the contracts of all caterers on May 2, 2025, but has not provided clear reasons or indicated when new contracts will be issued. Although the caterers have been promised payment for money owed to them, no timeline has been given for when they will be paid.

Speaking on Citi FM’s Eyewitness News, the Deputy Public Relations Officer of the National School Feeding Caterers Association, Madam Margaret Larbi, said they are seeking support from traditional and religious leaders.

“Our President said we have petitions to be sent. We’re trying to get in touch with Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Asantehene, to intervene,” she said.

She also mentioned that the group plans to reach out to other respected figures, including the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.

“We’re trying to go to the Chief Imam. Tomorrow, we have a lot to do to send some petitions to other influential individuals in the country to speak on our behalf,” she added.

The caterers hope that with the support of these leaders, the government will address their concerns promptly.
