Spokesperson for the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu says the concept of neutrality towards all religions and not believing in any deity is not applicable in Ghana.

According to him, the thoughts and values of Ghana have a deep sense for God even though it is a secular state.

“secularism in Ghana is moving God away from all the affairs of the country”, he noted.

He emphasized on the fact that Ghana cannot do away with God and that the ‘National Anthem’ begins with, ‘’God bless our homeland Ghana “. We begin the Constitution with ” the all mighty God”. And again we end the National Pledge by saying ” so help me God.”

Sheikh Saibu added that religion brings meaning to values in Ghanaians and that people run to the church or mosque when they are in trouble.

“Every Politician goes to the Chief Imam and Pastors during elections “, he added.
