Striking nurses, midwives hold crunch meeting with NLC over unpaid allowances today

Striking nurses, midwives and allied health associations are to meet the National Labour Commission (NLC) and the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission today (September 23, 2020) to negotiate their conditions of service.

The meeting, initiated by government follows the ongoing strike by the health workers to demand for better conditions of service.

The industrial action enters day three today.

Meanwhile, an Accra High Court has for the second time, ordered the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives’ Association (GRNMA) through a substituted service to halt its strike.

This comes on the back of an initial interlocutory injunction secured by the NLC on Friday to compel the Nurses and Midwives to call off their action pending further negotiations.
