Minister for Transport, Joseph Bukari Nikpe, has outlined his commitment to the government’s vision for an integrated multimodal transport system in Ghana.
“Our President’s vision is for us to have an integrated multimodal transport system; that is why we are implementing this vision at the Transport and Logistics Fair 2025,” he said.
Speaking in an exclusive interview on GTV Breakfast Show with Maltiti Sayida Sadick, Mr Nikpe emphasized that the integrated system will enable passengers to conveniently switch between air, rail, road, and inland water transport, citing an instance where a passenger could take a train from one point, transfer to a road vehicle, and then connect to a flight to reach their final destination. This approach is expected to ease mobility, reduce travel times, and expand accessibility across the country.
The Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to modernising Ghana’s transport and logistics sector, with a focus on upgrading rail, maritime, and aviation systems to improve connectivity and reduce logistics costs.
Mr Nikpe stated that this vision would be implemented at the Transport and Logistics Fair 2025, a platform designed to foster innovation, attract investment, and promote dialogue in the transport sector. The fair aims to showcase transport innovations, display electric vehicle models, and provide educational tours, among other activities.
He mentioned that inventions by Ghanaian talents can be displayed at the fair and called on the public to make use of the opportunity.
