The Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has strongly condemned a recent act of vandalism at the retaining wall of the Achimota-Ofankor underpass, near Tantra Hill.
A video shared on social media by the Buzstopboys revealed exposed metal reinforcements (rebars) on the wall. The GHA has confirmed that these reinforcements were stolen after parts of the wall had already been damaged.
According to the Authority, a team of engineers had earlier inspected the area and found a small portion of the wall damaged, which had exposed the metal inside. Unfortunately, thieves took advantage of the situation to steal the materials.
Despite the damage, the GHA assures the public that the structure remains safe for use. Plans are in place to fix the affected area soon.

“This is a clear act of vandalism, and we strongly condemn it,” the Authority stated. “Tampering with public infrastructure is a serious crime under Ghana’s Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180), section 114, subsection 4(b), and offenders will be punished by law.”
The GHA is calling on the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around roads or bridges to the police or the Authority’s Public Affairs Division.
